2008 |
|
December – The December NWC magazine has been sent to
the printer, and will be printed and mailed before Thanksgiving! It's
another 32-page issue with several interesting articles! |
|
November – The November NWC magazine was mailed on
10/23, and with the help of
newly appointed editor Ralph Dubisch (see
press release), we are
now on schedule! The November issue is 32 pages and has stories about
the "Earth vs. Space" match, the 2008 Polgar and Denker tournaments, and
other topics including "Chess in Central Oregon!" |

October – The October NWC magazine was mailed on 10/14.
It's a big 32-page issue with news and games from the U.S. Open, the Oregon
Open, and (yes) the Washington Open last May. Also, congratulations to Gary
Dorfner of Tacoma, winner of the USCF Meritorious Service Award, whose photo
appears on the cover! |

September
– The September NWC magazine, edited by guest editor Ralph Dubisch,
was sent to the publisher on Thursday 8/28, and was mailed on 9/2! Thank you, Ralph! This
is an interesting 32-page
edition! We hope most of you like Ralph's style! |

August – The
August NWC magazine was mailed on August 7. It's a 24-page issue with
annotated games from recent events, two articles (including an interview
of Ignacio Perez) by Nat Koons, and a mathematically-oriented article,
"So How Many Chess Board Positions Are There?" from your business
manager! |

July – The July NWC magazine
was mailed on Monday, July 21. It's a 24-page issue with games from the
Oregon state championship (won by Radu Roua), the National Open and the
Keres Memorial! |

June – The June NWC magazine
was mailed June 24, and should have arrived in members'
mailboxes! It's a 24-page issue with games from Reno & Tacoma,
and the third and final installment of the James Hurt "Martian System"
articles reprinted from 1938! |

May –
The May NWC magazine was delayed. It was mailed Friday 5/23,
and should have arrived shortly after the holiday weekend. Copies for
Canadian subscribers were also delayed, and were finally mailed on
June 4. |

April –
The
April NWC magazine was due to go to the publisher on Monday, 3/31, but
actually was delivered on 4/11, and mailed on 4/17.
It's a
32-page issue with games from the WA State Championship and
Premier. |

February-March –
The
February-March combined NWC magazine was delayed due to a file
format problem. The magazine was mailed about Thursday,
March 13. It's a 24-page issue with games from the WA Challengers' Cup. See the press release:

January – The
January NWC magazine was delayed again due to a missing page. It was mailed on Thursday,
February 7. We realize that this is unacceptable service. We will be doing a combined February-March edition to get
"caught up."

2007 |
|
December – The
December NWC magazine was mailed on 12/20 to US subscribers, and was mailed on 12/31 to Canadian subscribers.
It's a 24-page issue with a story on the Washington-British Columbia
match (also see tournament news below).

November – The
November NWC magazine was mailed on 11/21, and should have arrived at your
mailbox (for current subscribers). It's a 24-page issue with reports on the
US Chess League, National Chess Day, plus two instructional articles written
by Washington State chess champion James Hurt way back in 1938! |

October NWC magazine was mailed on Wednesday, 10/17. It's a 24-page
issue, with games from the Oregon Open. |
| September –
The September NWC magazine was mailed on Monday, 9/24.
It's a 24-page issue, with games from the U.S. Open, WA Blitz and more! |

August – The August NWC magazine was mailed on
8/24,
and subscribers should receive it this week (8/27)! It's a special
32-page issue with games from the 1966 U.S. Open in Seattle!!
Co-champions GM Robert Byrne and GM Pal Benko appear on the cover.

problems the editor was experiencing, but was mailed on 7/25, and
should be arriving! It's a 24-page issue, with news of the WA Open,
National Open, National K-9 Championship and more! |

games from the Oregon championship and junior championship. |

May – The May NWC magazine was mailed on 5/16. It is a 16-page issue,
including stories about Clark Harmon, the Reno Far West Open and the WA
Elementary Championship. Want to see bigger magazines again? – submit

April
– The April NWC magazine was mailed on 4/6. It is a 16-page issue,
including a story about the Collyer Memorial tournament, and photos from the
WA Chess Championship on the cover. |

March
– The March NWC magazine
was mailed on 3/20. It is a 32-page issue, including
games from the WA
Chess Championship and Premier. We are sorry for the delay – editor Fred
Kleist has been ill with bronchitis, but is now reportedly feeling better. |

The February NWC magazine
was mailed on 2/15. It is a 24-page issue, including reports from the WA
Challengers' Cup and Seattle CC Extravaganza. |

was mailed on about 1/18. We
apologize for the delay, due in part to the weather. The magazine contains
games from the WA Class Championships and more. |

|
December – The December NWC magazine
was mailed on 12/13 and should have arrived at your
mailbox! It's a 24-page issue with stories about the GM Slugfest, the
Seattle Sluggers, and more! |

mailed on 11/16, and should have arrived. It contains results from Seattle Sluggers matches,
Eastern WA Open and more!

Championship. Please note that we are trying some rearrangement of the
information on the mailing labels to add an extra address line for long
addresses. Some membership numbers and expiration dates will not appear on
labels this month, but we will try to fix the problem for April. |

including a report from the Western States Open in Reno. |

Wednesday, November 9. It is a 24-page issue, including an ad for the WA

on Friday, April 8. Most subscribers should receive the magazine by Tuesday
4/12. The April issue is 32 pages and contains the remaining games from the
Washington Chess Championship. |
| March – The
March issue of Northwest Chess magazine was mailed
on Friday, March 11. Tournament coordinators with events prior to the
20th of each month should advertise in the previous month's magazine. |

– The February issue of Northwest Chess magazine
was mailed on Thursday, February 10. We are sorry about the
ongoing delays. Some February
magazines were mailed with the apartment number or second address line
