2011 Washington Junior Open & Reserve

The 2011 Washington Junior Open & Reserve was held at Somerset Elementary School in Bellevue, WA on the MLK Day holiday (January 17). There were 195 kids in all.

The winners were:

K-3 U800 1st Yos Wagenmans 5-0, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th Emily Du, Vinh Tran, Gene Yang and Keaton Fletcher 4-1 each.

K-3 U1400 1st Maxwell Truluck 5-0, 2nd,3rd,4th Richard Yang, Evan Lam and Brian Chen 4-1 each.

4-6 U900 1st, 2nd Varun Venkatesh and Owen Hanson 5-0 each, 3rd and 4th William Gunn and Michael Bi 4-1 each.

4-6 U1400 1st Olga Cherepakhin 5-0, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Paari Gopal, Jordan Price and Betty Hou 4-1.

7-12 U1400 1st Kyler Elmer 5-0, 2nd Emi Brawley, 4-1, 3rd Dee Dee Lennon-Jones 3-2.

Junior Open Section

1st Ethan Gottlieb 4-1, 2nd Roland Feng 4-1. Gottlieb beat Feng in a playoff for the title. 3rd Casey Xing, 4th Richard Dong, 5th Mayhul Arora, 3-2 each.

Team Awards

1st Spritridge Elementary 16.0, 2nd Somerset Elementary 15.5, 3rd Puesta Del So Elementary 15.5.

All winners received a trophy. TD David Hendricks. He was assisted by WCF President Josh Sinanan, WCF Tournament Coordinator Dan Mathews and WCF Secretary Gary Dorfner. Reported by Gary Dorfner.
