Nick Raptis scored a perfect 4-0 in the 24 player event on August 24th at the Portland Chess Club. 2nd place at 3.5-.5 was a clear win for Dan Dalthorp. Neil Dale and Gregori Alpernas handled the TD tasks. These events are played at Game in 60 with a delay of 5 seconds. They are rated by the regular USCF rating system as both a regular rated event and a quick rated event.

Brice Tiglon won Section A 2.5-.5. Man Tran Quang scored 2.5-.5 winning section B. Stuart Rowe scoring 2.5-.5 won Section C. The first three sections were 4 player quads. The 4th section had 8 players and was a 3 round swiss won with 3-0 by Paul Han.

Senior Championship with a 3.5-.5 score. 8 players under the direction of Gary Dorfner of Tacoma took part in the event. Second at 3-1 was Viktors Pupols. The event was held as a one day event on August 24 at the Tacoma Chess Club.

The stage is set for round 1. Let the games begin at the 2013 Susan Polgar Girls’ Invitational Chess Tournament (10th anniversary) at Webster University in St. Louis.

Chief tournament director Frank Niro, illness above, mycoplasmosis addresses the players, prostate parents, coaches, university leaders and the mayor of Webster Groves, MO at the Opening Ceremony. A total of 60 girls are competing for $200,000 in scholarships and other prizes. To date, the Susan Polgar Foundation, in cooperation with its partners, has awarded college scholarships valued at more than three million dollars to players in SPF events.”

The playing site is the stage of the Loretto-Hilton Theatre on the campus of Webster University.
