There was a 4-way tie for 3rd-6th place between Joshua Sinanan (Seattle), Paul Johnson (Boise), Caleb Abernathy (Meridian, ID), and Peter Olsoy (Boise) with 3.5 points each.

In the Reserve Section, Gary Hollingsworth (Pocatello, ID) and Jarod Buus (Nampa, ID) tied for 1st-2nd place with 4 points each. There was a tie for 3rd-5th place between Jamie Lang (Meridian), Michaela Abernathy (Meridian), and Kevin Patterson (Meridian) with 3.5 points each.

I wish to thank everyone who played and supported this tournament.  Many players expressed a desire to play but couldn’t make it for one reason or another, but interest was high.  Boise State University (BSU) was a great site, and the staff at BSU did a fantastic job in accommodating our every need.

Yasser Seirawan arrives for the 9-day schedule of the 113th Annual U.S. Open

Jeff Roland

Yasser Seirawan played in both the 1976 and 1977 Idaho Open tournaments. Here he is before the start of round 1 at the 2012 U.S. Open telling Jeff Roland and Karl Schoffstoll about his experience on the drive back from Idaho back then. It was a very interesting and memorable experience for him (one might even say frightening!). Yasser’s way of telling the story was very fun and engaging!
