Making WCF grow: Thinking outside our box

Postby hgpitre » Tue Sep 08, 2009 3:03 pm

Here's the first item: some people use the web to arrange to meetings for their clubs or interests with people previously unknown to them all over the country, maybe all over the world.

There's a group for chess too.. And they've got something going on in the greater Seattle area and Portland as well. They are probably having a hard time of it.. Keeping it going, keeping excited.. We do too. But what if locally we tried to join forces to form or raise the group to intermediate skills with the hope that they will try tournament chess sooner rather than later..

There's a lot that we could learn from them. Probably just by asking, if we were there at their meetings. Such things as how could we make our events more pleasant for women and girls? Currently they are meeting in Kirkland or Issaquah, and in Seattle. I am sure they would appreciate seeing some new faces from our group..

Thanks H.G.!

I checked out the website and found a group in Portland Oregon which I plan to visit soon. I also posted a notice about the main website on USCF and Susan Polgar forums.
