Hikaru Nakamura is about to play, Levon Aronian, the FiNet2008-2009 Chess960 Rapid World Champion.. in Mainz, Germany.. 4 games on Thursday.. I hope he fares well. I hope Nakamura earns the title for 2009-2010..
He then will be playing in the Ordix Open, also in Mainz to attempt to qualify for the GrenkeLeasing Rapids World Championship for 2010. Last year he came in second in the Ordix, and barely missed qualifying for this year's Rapids World Championships..Vishy Anand has held sway here for most of the years..
I'd like to see someone around here try to introduce more people to Chess960 and tournaments with it.... If you read about it, you realize while you lose your chess openings book. You rely on creativity, and basic principles, and the better grounded chess player should win. You have to get used to unusual castling results, but after that, it's almost smooth sailing.
