Updates April-May 2025 -
May 11 Sunday event has been canceled for Mother's Day. The next Sunday chess event after April 27 will be on May 18
and will begin our outdoor venue for the summer season. As before, we will be playing at the Fairhaven Village Green in Fairhaven
(1207 10th St, Bellingham).
October-November 2024 -
The venue for Wednesday Chess has changed to Luna's Bistro located in the Barkley theater area.
The address is 3004 Cinema Place in Bellingham. Chess will be upstairs in the mezzanine section and will start as usual at 7 p.m.
Drinks and food are optional. Parking is free nearby.
September 2024 -
The "Sunday Chess in the Park" summer venue series is moving back indoors Sunday September 29 due to cooler and rainy weather.
Our current venue for fall and winter is Haggen's grocery (Barkley location) at 2900 Woburn St., Bellingham, WA.
Chess play starts at 2:00 p.m. in the Market Cafe located on the right side of the building. It is an open cafe with plenty of tables for chess.
Drinks, coffee, and food are available onsite. While it is not required to bring your chess sets, bring it if you have one ... and chess clocks.
All ages and levels are welcome. Chess is a universal language. All of the chess club's events are family and child friendly.
If you are beginner and wish to improve your chess play, complimentary chess coaching will be available at Sunday events.
