The 2012 Western Idaho Open, December 8-9, 2012 in Boise, Idaho was won by GM Alex Yermolinsky (Sious Falls, SD) with 4.5 points. FM Nick Raptis (Portland) was 2nd place with 4 points. There was a 4-way tie for 3rd-6th place between Joshua Sinanan (Seattle), Paul Johnson (Boise), Caleb Abernathy (Meridian, ID), and Peter Olsoy (Boise) with 3.5 points each.

In the Reserve Section, Gary Hollingsworth (Pocatello, ID) and Jarod Buus (Nampa, ID) tied for 1st-2nd place with 4 points each. There was a tie for 3rd-5th place between Jamie Lang (Meridian), Michaela Abernathy (Meridian), and Kevin Patterson (Meridian) with 3.5 points each.

I wish to thank everyone who played and supported this tournament.  Many players expressed a desire to play but couldn’t make it for one reason or another, but interest was high.  Boise State University (BSU) was a great site, and the staff at BSU did a fantastic job in accommodating our every need.

Good report and picture. Maybe next time you can get some one else to post as the tournament goes along. Nick looks nice in his NWC logo T-Shirt.
